An officer patrolling the area saw Garcia, 51, run a stop sign in a Cadillac sedan and pulled the vehicle over. As the car was pulling over, the officer saw Garcia throw out a small object before stopping, court records show. The police officer talked with Garcia who showed signs of intoxication but refused to take a breath exam. Inside the vehicle, police found two opened beer cans that spilled into the driver’s seat and a Beretta .40-caliber handgun in the car’s trunk. The object that Garcia had thrown out of the car was a bag with 0.39 grams of cocaine, the complaint shows.

Garcia was charged with one count of DWI, one count of possession of a controlled substance and one count of unlawful possession of a firearm, and his total bond was set at $30,000, court records show.
