Joshua Carrier, 30, school resource officer (Colorado Springs Police Department) and volunteer wrestling coach at Horace Mann Middle School [Colorado Springs School District 11], Colorado Springs, Colorado, approximately 200 counts related to child pornography and sexual molestation. Joshua Carrier was initially arrested for child pornography and charged shortly thereafter with numerous counts of child molestation. His first trial in the Spring of 2012 resulted in guilty verdicts on 21 counts of "sexual exploitation" for the child pornography and not guilty verdicts on 35 counts of sexual abuse; the jury was hung a further 151 counts of sexual abuse. The prosecution retried many of the sexual abuse counts, resulting in guilty verdicts on 71 counts of related to child molestation in October of 2012. Denver Post: Colorado Springs police officer arrested for child porn (May 11 2011) The Air Force Office of Special Investigations alerted the CSPD's Internet Crimes Against Children Unit that during one of their investigations they discovered Carrier may have made purchases from a child pornography website. At this point, officials believe that Carrier purchased only photos from the website. Carrier had several assignments where he worked with youth, including school resource officer at Horace Mann Elementary, a coach for the Police Athletic League and an advisor to youth in the CSPD Explorer program.

Springs Officer Allegedly Touched Wrestlers Inappropriately (May 20 2011) Police in Colorado Springs said Friday that there are at least five victims in their case against one of their own officers who allegedly had inappropriate contact with children. Joshua Carrier, 30, is a seven year veteran of the force and had frequent contact with children as part of his job. He was a school resource officer and a volunteer wrestling coach at Horace Mann Middle School in Colorado Springs....One of the wrestlers there told CBS4?s television partner KKTV in Colorado Springs some of the contact happened when Carrier was checking the team for ringworm, a skin infection that’s common among wrestlers. “He would actually take us into his own office one by one and touch us and look at us and stuff,” he said. That wrestler’s father also told KKTV the school told them the checkups would be done in the locker room, but that apparently wasn’t what happened.

Carrier was suspended without pay at 4 p.m. Tuesday, according to a statement issued by the department. For the past two weeks, he had been on paid administrative leave.

On top of that there could be more to come as police interview more potential victims. Colorado Springs attorney Rick Levinson tells us an alleged victim's family has already reached out to his firm ... Since then several other families have as well. They're looking into the possibility of a civil lawsuit. While that potential lawsuit could include CSPD, Levinson says the school district is the main focus.

Officer Joshua Carrier, 30, is charged with 78 counts of various sexual offenses against six children, including sexual assault on a child by a person in a position of trust. Carrier could be responsible for sexually assaulting as many as 15 children, according to an attorney who plans to sue on behalf of several alleged victims. That allegation was reported by the Colorado Springs Gazette.
CBS Local Denver: Lower Bond Denied For Colorado Springs Police Officer (June 7 2011) A Colorado Springs officer accused of sexually assaulting at least six children has been denied a request to lower his bond. KKTV reported Tuesday that bond is still set at $500,000 for 30-year-old Joshua Carrier, who remains in jail. A judge has also denied a request from his alleged victims that his bond be raised to $1 million.

KKTV: UPDATE: Judge Will Allow Accusers To Testify In Hearing For Springs Officer (June 14 2011) A judge decided Tuesday that the alleged victims of a Colorado Springs police officer can testify during his preliminary hearing ... The judge may allow the children to testify via closed-circuit television so they don't have to be in the same room with Carrier. It will be up to the prosecution to decide if they want to call any of the students to testify in the hearing.
