Lafrance, 53, of 30 Linden Lane, West Greenwich, was arrested at 6:30 a.m. and charged with indecent solicitation of a child and two counts of third-degree sexual assault ... An investigation began Oct. 7, a news release from the Richmond police said, after Chariho School Resource Officer Adam Andrukiewicz was notified by the school administration that a student’s mother had made a complaint of an inappropriate relationship between a teacher named John Wedlock and her daughter, who was between 14 and 16 years old. Richmond Police Detective Drew Bishop and Patrolman Adam Andrukiewicz investigated, asking for help from the R.I. State Police Internet Crimes Against Children task force. The officers asked for investigative and forensic expertise at analyzing electronic devices, and help getting search warrants for the devices. An audit of the devices led to a second suspect, Lafrance. The device also contained sexually explicit content and communications, which the police say implicate both men in knowingly soliciting, urging or requesting a person they knew to be younger than 18 to engage in sexual acts. He did not enter a plea at his arraignment in Washington County District Court and released on $10,000 personal recognizance ... Teachers facing sex charges used Skype, apps to speak with student The police report confirmed that two weeks later, the student disclosed to police another relationship she had with business teacher Paul LaFrance, 53. The student told police she began to talk with LaFrance in June on Kik.com and Skype. The report states, “The conversation was almost immediately sexual, and Paul LaFrance told her what he wanted to do to her.” According to the report, the student admits to meeting with LaFrance on two occasions, including at his house, to engage in sexual activity. Teacher Arrested for Possession of Child Porn, Sex Assault On Oct. 28, the Rhode Island Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force received a request from the Richmond Police Department to analyze digital media seized during the arrest of Lafrance for two counts of third-degree sexual assault and indecent solicitation of a minor. As a result of the examination, an additional investigation concerning alleged crimes that occurred at his residence followed. Search and arrest warrants were issued on Monday.
