    Suicides persist in New York's prisons and jails

    Maryanne Rappaport immediately knew it was her son when a local television news station provided the description of a man sought by police for an alleged robbery. The suspect had the same lip piercing, gauge earrings and distinct hairstyle and, most of all, she hadn’t been able to reach him at the Albany shelter where he had been living.
