Investigators say Stephen Budd was arrested Wednesday night, accused of sexual activity with two young girls who are former students. 51 year old Stephen Budd appeared in court Thursday morning, accused of sexual assault. According to the West Palm Beach Police Chief, back in 2006, Budd allegedly had sexual encounters with two 4th graders. Budd reportedly would use "Budd Bucks" to reward the girls, as candy, in return for sexual acts. One victim told police Budd recently tried to get in touch with her through Facebook. That's when she told her parents, who contacted police.

Palm Beach Post: Police believe there are other possible victims involved in case of teacher accused of sex assault (Apr 4 2013)

Stephen Budd was arrested late Wednesday at his West Palm Beach apartment, not long after a former student of his at Rosarian Academy School, a private Catholic school in West Palm Beach, told police that during the 2006-07 school year, Budd would give them “Budd bucks,” which she explained was candy in return for sexual acts. The girls were 9 years old at the time of alleged abuse. The former students shared an oath and didn’t want anyone to know about what happened, a city police spokesman said.

    ...

Budd, who says on his personal website that he had a traumatic childhood and a broken marriage, faces charges of three counts of sexual assault, two counts of cruelty toward a child, two counts of battery and two counts of lewd and lascivious behavior.

    ...

The allegations surfaced when the former student at Rosarian told police that Budd, who was her homeroom teacher at the time of the alleged abuse, contacted her through Facebook last week. She then told her parents that when she and another student were 9 years old and in fourth grade, Budd would assault them on a daily basis at the school on North Flagler Drive. The girl told police that one time, after a sex act with Budd, she threw out her soiled clothing because she feared her parents would find out what happened. Budd also allegedly told the girls to perform sexual acts on each other and told them to take naked pictures of each other with the class Polaroid camera.

Palm Beach Daily News: Ex-Rosarian teacher accused of sex acts with kids (Apr 4 2013)

Stephen J. Budd, a fourth-grade teacher at Rosarian at the time of the alleged crimes, was charged with three counts of sexual battery on a child, two counts of sexual performance by a child, two counts of lewd or lascivious exhibition, and two counts of battery of a child ... One victim came forward early last week after she told her parents she received a Facebook message from Budd, said Capt. David Bernhardt. Another victim came forward shortly thereafter ...
The girls claim Budd rewarded them with “Budd Bucks” or candy in exchange for sexual acts during the 2006-07 school year, according to a probable cause affidavit. They were both 9-years-old when the offenses began, according to police documents. The crimes began during the second week of school and became a daily routine between Budd and both victims, police said. Budd touched the victims underneath their clothes, asked them to perform sexual acts on him and had them watch as he performed sexual acts on himself, documents show. After one sexual act, one of the victims discarded clothing to conceal the crime from her parents. Budd also directed the victims to perform sexual acts on each other, including taking naked photographs via the classroom Polaroid camera, police said.
