The above Sheree Buchanan blog link describes Sheree's excitement as she packs up for her new teaching job and arrives in Alaska for the first time: "This time I am moving far away (1800 miles to be exact) and on my own. No boyfriends (thank goodness) and no family or friends (the most difficult thought), just me living in the village of Kiana, Alaska. I know this choice will be an experience of a lifetime, one that many people will never be able to do. I know I am very lucky and I am definitely grateful for this teaching opportunity, but at the same time I have the right to be scared and nervous. I will be the sole responsibility of a 2nd and 3rd grade classroom; their success will be my accomplishment."
