Former Davie County teacher arrested after inappropriate photo investigation

A former Davie County middle school teacher has been arrested on suspicion of sending inappropriate photos to minors. Shannon Handy Wood, 33, was charged Thursday with three counts of disseminating harmful and one count each of indecent liberties with a minor, statutory sex offense involving a child under 15, and disseminating obscene material to a minor. She was released on an unsecured bond pending a Sept. 29 court appearance. Wood taught physical education at William Ellis Middle School before resigning August 30.
