"The student denies it. The parents of the student are upset that this has gone where it has gone. They don't have anything bad to say about Sarah. Sarah denies it," attorney Eric Deters said in December. "There's no victim. There's nobody saying 'Hey, this happened.'" Deters is not currently Jones' attorney because he was suspended last month for ethics violations. He will take over the case when the suspension is lifted on April 24.

For months now, we've been keeping a close eye on the fate of former Bengals cheerleader Sarah Jones. She was arrested earlier this year and accused of having a sexual relationship with a 16-year-old boy during her time as an English teacher at Dixie Heights High School in Kentucky. And, we finally have a verdict: Jones will not serve any jail time after reaching a plea deal with prosecutors that will instead see her receive five years of diversion. The diversion will require her to report to a probation officer, be subjected to drug tests, and steer clear of teaching ever again.

A gossip website operator defended himself Wednesday against a defamation lawsuit by arguing that a former Cincinnati Bengals cheerleader featured in posts on the site is a public figure. Hooman Karamian, who goes by the name Nik Richie, testified in a northern Kentucky courtroom that cheerleader Sarah Jones was on national television and participated in community events because of the high-profile job. Public figures trying prove defamation have a higher burden than those who aren't in the public eye. He also said his Arizona-based website, thedirty.com, is similar to Facebook, Twitter and YouTube in the way it features user content. Richie has said the two posts cited in Jones' lawsuit included text and photos submitted by people who knew her.

A former cheerleader for the Cincinnati Bengals is suing Nik Richie, owner of gossip site The Dirty, after he posted rumors that she had sex with all members of the Bengals football team and had contracted STDs. Sarah Jones was also a teacher at Dixie Heights High School before she pleaded guilty to having sex with a 17-year-old student. In court Wednesday, Jones said she only had sex with two people in her life. Jones said Nik Richie, whose real name is Hooman Karamian, ruined her reputation by posting about her on the website. In court, Karamian defended himself by saying that she was a public figure when the information was posted about her. It is more difficult to prove defamation when someone is a public figure. It is up to the jury now to decide. Karamian, 33, also said that his site is similar to Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube in how it features content mainly created by users.
