After she accepted the request, a conversation followed through Facebook messages. After a while, the student became uncomfortable with the conversation and notified an adult who then contacted law enforcement, according to a report from the Sheriff’s Office.Later in the conversation, an officer stepped in, posing as the student, according to the Sheriff’s Office. Thinking it was the student, Crutchfield reportedly directed the officer to contact him on his cell phone through text message. At that point, the conversation became explicit, according to authorities. Crutchfield asked the student if she was a virgin and if she performed oral sex. He also requested pictures of the student, according to the report.On Thursday, Crutchfield continued to contact the girl, asking her the color of the underwear she wore the night before and indicating that he would like to meet with her Friday night. During the conversations, Sheriff’s deputies posed as the student, according to authorities.On Friday, Crutchfield set up a time to meet the student at Floridatown Park in Pace, the report states. At approximately 7:30 p.m., he sent a text message to the student saying he would be leaving shortly to meet her there. The girl told a probation officer whom she knew, about the conversations and the probation officer then took over the conversation with Crutchfield and notified Sheriff's officials. The conversations became sexually explicit over the cell phone text messaging, according to Sheriff's reports. After Crutchfield asked for a photo of the girl, reports say one clothed shot of the juvenile was sent to him. Crutchfield continued by asking for more explicit photos of her, officials say. No additional photos were sent, according to investigators. At some point in the communications, Crutchfield allegedly told the girl to delete copies of text messages and Facebook messages. Using the text messaging, Crutchfield continued to talk to the teen and arranged a location to meet in Pace. With Sheriff's Officials and FDLE agents lying in wait, Crutchfield was arrested in the restroom at the Floridatown Park where he had gone to meet the juvenile, according to arrest reports. After his arrest, Crutchfield told deputies the girl was a student of his and that he had other conversations with juveniles, "advising them to delete the content of the conversations, because he was fearful someone would get in trouble," according to the arrest report.
Santa Rosa Press Gazette: Teacher charged with obscene communication with minor (June 17 2013) King Middle School teacher Robert Todd Crutchfield, 41, of Pace, was arrested late Friday night after showing up to a park to engage in sexual activity with the minor, according to his Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office arrest report. Crutchfield has been suspended without pay and will not be recommended for re-employment next year unless he is cleared of all charges, according to Santa Rosa County Superintendent Tim Wyrosdick.
