Mankato Free Press: Former teacher charged with child porn (Nov 14 2013) Paul Louis Conrad, 46, of North Mankato was released from custody without bail after appearing before District Court Judge Kurt Johnson Thursday morning. He is facing one felony charge for allegedly looking at what witnesses described as child pornography on a computer in MSU’s Centennial Library ... A Mankato police officer was sent to the library at about 9:40 p.m. Tuesday after an employee there called campus security. A security officer was detaining Conrad when the Mankato police officer arrived, the complaint said. Conrad told the officer he had been using a computer to look for jobs and to listen to music. Three witnesses, two men and a woman, said they saw Conrad looking at pictures of young females wearing swimming suits and topless. The witnesses estimated that the children were between the ages of 8 and 12. The witnesses said Conrad had been at the computer for about four hours before they called. He was saving images to a Google Docs account or a Gmail account and would switch to a screen with YouTube on it if anyone walked near him, the complaint said. At first they thought he was doing research for a class project, but they became uncomfortable because of the content and the time he was spending looking at it, the witnesses reported.
