Province outlines screening for teachers, daycare staff The Ministry of Education says there are measures in place for background checks, which apply for teachers and daycare staff. Ingrid Anderson from ministry notes the Ontario College of Teachers regulates the teaching profession in Ontario in the public interest. Teachers, including supply teachers, must be members in good standing with the college in order to teach in Ontario’s public schools. One of the requirements for registration with the college is for applicants to provide an original, signed Canadian criminal record check report for review.
