    North Carolina nurse accused of stealing fentanyl from Atrium hospital in Charlotte, officers say


    A former Atrium Health nurse is facing charges after investigators alleged she stole fentanyl from a Charlotte hospital last year. Katherine Rupert, 26, was arrested on Tuesday, Jan. 16, according to a warrant obtained by our news partner, WCNC. She was charged with one felony count of embezzling or diverting a controlled substance. The arrest warrant alleges that the incident happened in April 2023 when Rupert worked at Atrium Health’s Carolinas Medical Center hospital. Rupert’s arrest comes as more and more people are dying from fentanyl in the Charlotte area.
