NOPD opens new sexual assault investigation into former sex crimes detective

We’re learning more about the convicted pedophile and former sex crimes detective who is now at the center of a new NOPD sexual assault investigation. The alleged victim in that case is the same man who says a Jesuit High School janitor raped him while a priest watched. Richard Windmann says in the late 1970s, then-NOPD police officer Stanley Burkhardt molested him when he was a teenager. Tuesday, the NOPD confirmed the department is investigating sexual assault allegations against Burkhardt, and they have spoken to an alleged victim.
