    A teacher with the Lafayette County School District has been charged with the enticement of a child to meet for sexual purposes, stated Lafayette Investigator Alan Wilburn. On June 4, the Lafayette County Sheriff's Department received a complaint from the Lafayette County School superintendent about a teacher allegedly having improper conduct with a student. Lafayette County investigators, as well as the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation, looked into the allegations. Today, June 20, an affidavit was filed on Molly Wray of Oxford.     Continuances filed in cases against two local former teachers

    The trials for two local former teachers accused of sex crimes involving former students in unrelated cases have been continued again at the request of their attorney. On Jan. 6, a circuit court judge signed an order of continuance for former Lafayette County math teacher Molly Wray and former Oxford physics teacher James Reidy until the next court term which is in April. Both Wray and Reidy are represented by local attorney Tony Farese.


    James Reidy:

    Reidy, 55, was indicted in 2018 on two charges of sexual battery by a person having authority over the victim after local law enforcement was told Reidy was allegedly having sex with one of his students. Since then, Reidy has been out on a $25,000 and been granted seven continuances. According to the indictment, Reidy allegedly had sex with his then 16-year-old student in the fall of 2016 and then again in the fall of 2017. The offenses reportedly occurred in Lafayette County. If convicted of both charges, Reidy could face a maximum sentence of 40 years in prison. Reidy ...

    Former Mississippi high school teacher accused of enticing male student will not serve jail time

    A former Lafayette High School teacher will not serve jail time after being charged with a felony sex crime three years ago. According to court documents filed earlier this month, Molly Wray had her court case retired after Lafayette County Circuit Court judge Kent Smith granted a motion made by the state. The condition of the order is subject to Wray serving five years of good behavior effective on the date of the order being signed, according to the document.     Top Local Stories in the Third Quarter of 2021: Molly Wray

    On July 13, three years after a former Lafayette County High math teacher was charged with enticing a student to meet for sexual purposes, a Lafayette County Circuit Court Judge retired the case. Molly Wray was indicted on Sept. 5, 2018, by a grand jury for allegedly enticing a 17-year-old male, an LHS student, to meet for sexual purposes in November 2017. Judge Kent Smith signed the order to retire the felony case subject to Wray remaining on “good behavior” for five years.
