This is all bull (expletive deleted) because I have known Matt Nelson since I was six. Hes allways been a huggy kind of person thats just how he is and if you have a problem with it get over it. Of course hes gonna give you hugs when your in hard times. Plus what if the boys stomach was just hurting. Take it from someone that knew him personly all this stuff yall are saying is bull (expletive deleted). The police are pretty much begging people to get there parents to admit he did it. I dont believe he did it I mean think about it if you have a student and you cared about your students wouldnt you give them hugs.
Your logic is flawed. Even if the child's stomach is hurting, you do not have the right as a teacher to touch it in any manner. By your logic, then their genitals must have been hurting as well. Think through your statements before posting them Einstein.
Kansas City Star: Disgraced teacher admits sex abuse (Mar 13 2013) Matthew J. Nelson, a former Teacher of the Year who taught elementary school for 10 years in Grain Valley, pleaded guilty Wednesday to sexually abusing 11 boys. A plea agreement calls for 15 years in prison on each of 15 counts and seven years on a 16th count, with all sentences to run concurrently. Jackson County Circuit Court Judge Michael Manners scheduled sentencing for April 25.
Fox 4 KC: Parents sue Grain Valley School District after teacher’s abuse (Mar 29 2013) Attorneys for the parents of a girl allegedly abused by a teacher in the Grain Valley School District filed a lawsuit against the district principal, superintendent, and other school officials, alleging they did not take appropriate action against Matthew Nelson ... The lawsuit states the Grain Valley superintendent and assistant superintendent, along with the former and current principal of Prairie Branch Elementary failed to take action against Nelson even though they had knowledge of prior inappropriate contact by Nelson against at least one other student.
KC TC 5: Girl's family: Grain Valley administrators protected predatory teacher (Mar 29 2013) Administrators at the Grain Valley School District went to great lengths to protect a teacher who repeatedly molested students over the course of years, according to a lawsuit filed Friday afternoon. An unnamed girl and her parents are suing the district, superintendent Roy Moss, assistant superintendent Brad Welle, Marc Snow, a principal and administrator, and James Pinney, a principal. Also named in the lawsuit is Matthew Nelson, a former teacher who admitted earlier this year to child molestation, statutory sodomy and attempted child molestation. Nelson will be sentenced on April 25. "A reasonable and careful school district would have recognized that a teacher with Matthew Nelson's sexual abuse propensities poses a danger to its students, and would have terminated Matthew Nelson's employment in those positions, or would have otherwise provided against the danger he posed to students," the lawsuit says ... But the family says district officials had strong reason to suspect Nelson was a predator and no children should have been harmed in this decade after concerns were first raised in the 2005-2006 school year. The district also allowed Nelson's wife to try to influence the girl's testimony after charges were filed, according to the lawsuit ... After Nelson had been arrested, district officials allowed Nelson's wife to come onto school grounds and to have "direct and inappropriate contact and conversations" with the girl "in an attempt to influence and deter the reporting of the allegations."
Kansas City Star: Student and her family sue Grain Valley School District (Mar 29 2013) Nelson, now 34, admitted earlier this month that he sexually abused 11 boys. Sentencing has been scheduled for April 25. According to the lawsuit, Nelson began abusing the girl, identified as “Plaintiff Jane Doe,” when she was 7. During the 2011 school year, the suit alleges, Nelson “began an ongoing, repeated and continuous practice of fondling, holding, kissing and otherwise inappropriately touching and assaulting Plaintiff Jane Doe, including such specific acts as touching her private area, touching her legs, and inner thighs, and requiring Plaintiff Jane Doe to stand between his legs while he sat at his desk in the classroom.” Further, the school district officials knew about prior inappropriate contact by Nelson against at least one other Grain Valley student, the lawsuit alleges. At one point, it adds, administrators spoke to Nelson but otherwise failed to take adequate action against him.
Examiner: Former teacher gets 15-year sentence in sex case (Apr 25 2012) Jackson County Judge Michael Manners sentenced Matthew J. Nelson to 15 years on each of the 15 counts of child molestation and seven years on one count of attempted child molestation. Manners ordered that the sentences run concurrently.
Kansas City Star: Former Grain Valley teacher is sentenced to 15 years in prison for abusing his students (Apr 25 2013) Matthew Nelson stood and put his hands behind his back. A sheriff’s deputy snapped a pair of handcuffs on them and led him through a nearby door. And most of those who had filled the Independence courtroom, whispering or silent for much of the previous hour, burst into fierce and sudden applause. That’s how Nelson, a former teacher of the year who last month pleaded guilty to 16 counts of child sexual abuse, started the 15-year sentence imposed Thursday by Jackson County Circuit Judge Michael Manners.
