According to the sheriff's office, on Nov. 6, Lamantia asked the student to purchase marijuana for her to which the victim agreed. Authorities say they then arranged to meet on the evening of Nov. 6, with Lamantia picking him up from the Island Rec Center. At that time, the victim delivered the marijuana to Lamantia, and the two reportedly rode around the island for several hours before the victim returned home, authorities say. The sheriff's office says after later learning that their son had been terminated from his job at the Island Rec Center for smelling of marijuana, the victim's parents began questioning him. After learning that their son had been fired from his job at the rec center because he smelled like marijuana, the victim's parents began questioning him.
