The sheriff's office received information Friday alleging a possible sexual assault that occurred at the high school involving [Lee Edward] Riddle, the news release stated ... A deputy assigned as the school's resource officer, as well as detectives from the sheriff's office, conducted an investigation and several interviews, Lt. Jeff Kramer said in the release. The investigation revealed that Riddle allegedly had inappropriate contact with more than one student.​

The El Paso County Sheriff's Office says an investigation revealed that Riddle had inappropriate contact with multiple students. The investigation started Nov. 15 when the sheriff's office says it received a tip about a possible sex assault at the school involving Riddle. The school resource officer and deputies conducted interviews and investigated over the next few days.​

The graduate spoke on the condition of anonymity. He said days before he got his diploma, Lee Riddle sent him a friend request on Facebook. Soon after that he says instant messages they exchanged were friendly at first then much more personal. The student says once Riddle even asked about his sexual preference. "He would ask me to come over and hang out and stuff, and so I felt that was a little uncomfortable having not really known him outside the teacher/student relationship thing," he said. The teenager says riddle ultimately backed off, blocking him from further chats on Facebook.​

The Widefield High School teacher [Lee Edward Riddle] arrested earlier this week on a sexual assault charge is being accused of “cup checking” multiple students ... It was Nov. 15, when the Sheriff’s Office received information about a possible sexual assault at Widefield High School involving a teacher. An investigation was then launched by deputies and detectives. Through interviews, the Sheriff’s Office said Riddle allegedly had inappropriate contact with more than one student.

According to a court affidavit, Riddle is accused of making several inappropriate comments that were sexual in nature to several students. Some of those comments include calling a male student “cutie” and trying to compare genital sizes. Riddle is also accused of grabbing students’ nipples along with ‘cup checking’ them. He did this because he wanted to see how big their genitals were, a student said in the affidavit. The affidavit also shows that a student said Riddle asked him to lie for him because he was “in trouble again.”

Additionally, Riddle is accused of using the app Snap Chat to communicate with students. The affidavit shows that Riddle texted a student saying that he “could show him some things” and added “Wink Wink” and “LOL. Riddle, according to a student in the affidavit, showed him a picture of a naked man bending over.​

According to the affidavit, deputies spoke to a 17-year-old senior, a junior and a sophomore about their interactions with [Lee Edward] Riddle.​

The 17-year-old told a deputy that Riddle grabbed the boy's nipple in class and repeatedly called him "Cutie," the court document said. Another boy told investigators about the teacher's habit of "cup checking" boys. A deputy learned "cup checking" means striking a male in the crotch with the back of an open hand. The boy, however, told investigators that Riddle used the palm of his hand and did it to determine the size of the student's genitalia. According to the affidavit, Riddle asked multiple students if they were sexually active. The document said the teacher also engaged in conversations with the boys about homosexual sex. One boy told deputies that Riddle had given him a ride home from school and they talked about "gay sex." During the interview, the deputy reported that the boy's "demeanor changed during this conversation. He was very reserved, embarrassed and would not make eye contact." The boy said that nothing physical happened.​
