A high school teacher in Clifton, New Jersey, is under arrest, accused of having a sexual relationship with a 16-year-old student. Prosecutors say it all started with texting between 26-year-old social studies teacher, Kristin Leone and her 16-year-old, male student. They say that led to sexual contact right in a classroom after school and then alleged intercourse at the teacher's home. "Certainly, the relationship developed over these text messages," Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia Valdes said. "While there is no evidence that she coerced him or she forced him physically, legally he cannot consent."

Cops say she had sexual contact with the boy inside one of the classrooms when he came to her for extra help. She's also accused of having sex with the teen in her Clifton apartment. No one came to the door. And when we went to Leone's mother's house for comment- she called the cops. Investigators say the relationship started with texting between the two and escalated to sex- which they say cannot be deemed consensual. ... Leone has been suspended with pay. Leone was released on $100,000 bail on Monday night, said Passaic County Prosecutor Amelia Valdes at a press conference on Wednesday morning. Leone has been suspended with pay, Valdes said. The investigation began on Monday, after the high school administration contacted police and informed them of the accusations.

He’s 16,” Valdes said. “He is her student and a subordinate to her, so while there’s no evidence that she coerced him or forced him physically, legally he cannot consent.”

A 27-year-old Clifton High School teacher [Kristin Leone] arrested in May on charges she had sex with one of her 16-year-old male students pleaded guilty Monday to two counts of criminal sexual contact and faces a year in jail and five years of probation ... She will also be prohibited from working for the state of New Jersey, must forfeit to the state a number of teaching certificates she has earned, and must register as a Megan’s Law sex offender.
