    Joseph Brannock, a candidate for Hickory Ward 5 alderman, was charged on Friday with taking indecent liberties with a child, according to authorities. The age and gender of the child was not immediately available ... He was also charged with driving with no registration, operating a vehicle with no insurance, driving with a revoked license and failure to reduce speed.

    Joe Brannock, candidate for Hickory City Council, was charged with felony indecent liberties with a child, according to the sheriff’s office ... Reid said the female victim lives in Catawba County and reported the abuse to the sheriff’s office. She is less than 16 years old, Reid said.

    WBTV: Candidate bonds out of jail, remains on ballot after sex crimes charge (Oct 28 2013)

    A Hickory City council candidate, who was charged with indecent liberties with a child, will remain on the ballot for next week's election. He bonded out of jail on Monday evening. Joseph Brannock was arrested after a minor came forward and filed a complaint ... Brannock was a substitute teacher and WBTV has learned the young female alleged victim was in a school where he taught.

    [Joseph] Brannock was charged with taking indecent liberties with a child. Sheriff's deputies arrested him Friday, one day after allegations first surfaced from a female student under the age of 16 years old. Investigators said Brannock worked as a substitute teacher at several schools in Catawba County but they are not revealing which school the student attended.
