The investigation began on August 14 after the victim reported to investigators that Wolfe had sexually assaulted her on multiple occasions between August 2010 and May 2011. At the time of the incidents the victim was just 16 years‐of‐age. Wolfe was 28. During an interview with investigators, the victim told investigators that on one occasion Wolfe took her to his residence where he provided her with alcohol and an unknown narcotic that made her relax and took away the uneasiness of being in his home. In each of the incidents where the sexual assaults occurred, the victim said that she felt compelled to engage in sexual acts with Wolfe because of his position as a teacher and coach.​

The victim, according to the arrest report, recalled “at least” seven to 10 incidents, “possibly more,” involving sexual activity with Wolfe, including alleged oral sex and intercourse. “The victim advised that the first time she ever had sex with [Wolfe] was at his residence where he provided her an unknown type of narcotic along with alcohol. The victim stated that the narcotic made her feel very relaxed and took away the uneasy feeling of her being at the residence.”​

The victim related an incident that took place on April 27, 2011, that she said she would never forget. She said Wolfe “picked her up from her residence the night before and was partially intoxicated,” according to the report. “While in the vehicle, Wolfe grabbed the victim’s vaginal area. [Wolfe] took the victim to his residence where they had sex after consuming alcohol. The victim stated that after having sex both her and the defendant fell asleep in his bed naked. They were both woken by the defendant’s girlfriend at the time who came home unexpectedly.”​

Another incident occurred at the Princess Place preserve, where the district incidentally runs a specialized educational program.​

She told investigators, according to the report, that the substances made her feel “very relaxed and took away the uneasy feeling of her being at the residence.”​

The girl said during one incident in April 2011, Wolfe, who was “partially intoxicated,” picked her up from her home and drove the two of them back to his residence where they drank alcohol before having sex, according to the report. Wolfe and the girl, who had both fallen asleep, were awakened by Wolfe’s girlfriend who unexpectedly came home. The girl told investigators she “felt compelled to engage in sexual acts with Wolfe because of his position of authority over her,” according to the report. She said she could remember at least seven to 10 occurrences but possibly there were more.​

Wolfe's former student contacted the authorities last Wednesday about their illicit affair, which allegedly took place between August 2010 and May 2011. According to a police report, the girl said that her first sexual encounter with Wolfe took place in his home on Ocean Marina Drive, where her then-teacher poured her an alcoholic beverage and gave her a drug that took away the ‘uneasy feeling’ of being a the house. ​

The teenager also described how on another occasion, a 'partially intoxicated' Wolfe picked her up from her home and drove her to his house. On the ride over, the girl told police, the man also fondled her privates, FlaglerLive.com reported. The lovers then got drunk, had sex and fell asleep naked in bed, only to be awakened by Wolfe's girlfriend, who unexpectedly returned home and walked in on the pair, the report stated. ​

On another occasion, the girl and her teacher drove out to Princess Place Preserve, where she and Wolfe had allegedly sex inside a tent.​

The 31-year-old teacher was arrested Saturday and charged with seven counts of unlawful sexual activity with a minor. He’s accused of having intercourse and oral sex with a student, who was then 16, several times between August 2010 and May 2011. The first time, according to the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office, the teen said Wolfe took her to his home and gave her alcohol and an unknown narcotic.​

Just before he was arrested, teacher and coach James Wolfe told a former student that he didn’t mean to hurt her, according to a charging affidavit ... The student reported Wolfe on Aug. 14. Two days later, an investigator spoke with Wolfe, who denied the allegations against him and requested to speak with an attorney.​

Later that day, investigators arranged a controlled call — one that is recorded and monitored by law enforcement — between Wolfe and the victim, who arranged to “meet to describe their relationship,” a charging affidavit reads. Investigators monitored the meeting, during which Wolfe told the student, “I didn’t meant to hurt you,” and “I know it messed you up,” according to the affidavit. Then, the student asked Wolfe why he had sex with her when she was 16. Wolfe replied, “Because I thought I cared about you,” according to the affidavit.​
