He said the Police Department launched an investigation into Fruge a few weeks ago after the department’s chief of detectives was shown the texts by “someone who was friends with the student.” “It was never reported to us,” Guillory said. During the investigation, detectives learned that students were aware of the texts and reported it to the school’s principal, Guillory said. “Several student and faculty members interviewed said they were aware of an affair going on between her and her principal,” Guillory said. “That may be why he was reluctant to report it to police. “Some students who had knowledge of this had reported it to him weeks before we knew about it,” Guillory said.

Thanks for the update: A former Eunice High School teacher accused of sending sexually explicit photographs of herself to a student while she was employed at the school has pleaded guilty to a charge of obscenity. Jacqueline Fruge made her plea Tuesday before Judge Marion Edwards and was sentenced to three years probation. Previously, in November, Fruge had entered a plea of not guilty. Prior to that her case had been filed as a misdemeanor in Eunice City Court. It was upgraded in September, however. She appeared with her lawyer, Laura Rougeau, on Tuesday.
