    Hinds County Sheriff's Deputy arrested


    A Hinds County Deputy has been arrested for possession of a controlled substance and conspiracy. His arrest was the result of a joint investigation by the Hinds County Sheriff's Office, The Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics and the Mississippi Attorney General's Office. 54-year-old Douglas Jay Nelson of Jackson was on duty in Byram Wednesday at the time of his arrest. He was arrested for one count of conspiracy and one count of possession of a controlled substance. Nelson was immediately fired by the Sheriff's Office.
