    Hung jury forces mistrial for Harris County deputy charged with brutality


    Sgt. Marco Carrizales faces a first-degree felony charge alleging he assaulted another man while Sgt. Carrizales was working an off-duty security job. The incident occurred two years ago in October 2015. In May, at the conclusion of an Internal Affairs investigation into the incident, Sgt. Carrizales was disciplined with a 10-day suspension and a 180-day probationary period during which he was prohibited from working extra-duty jobs. He is now on administrative leave pending further consideration of his employment status in light of the indictment.
