Volusia County deputies say a 15-year-old Deltona girl came to school in dirty clothes and cockroaches in her backpack. Her mother and the fiancé of her mother were arrested for child neglect on Tuesday. The mom has since bonded out. A neighbor who didn’t want to be identified on camera said, “There was a large police presence yesterday and animal control came to pick up the pets.” Volusia County sheriff’s deputies were called to a house on Clovis Drive in Deltona after a 15-year-old child, who is deaf and mute, showed up with cockroaches in her backpack and wearing dirty ...
