Reading Eagle: Former substitute teacher arrested in abduction of Reading girl (Dec 21 2013)

Reading police arrested Fabricio A. Alvarado, 25, of the 2100 block of Elder Street and charged him with indecent assault, indecent exposure, kidnapping, unlawful restraint, luring a child into a motor vehicle and corrupting a minor.

Sgt. John M. Solecki of the criminal investigations division said the girl was able to direct police to Alvarado's house. "The victim in this case was amazing with how she recalled everything," Solecki said. Solecki also praised a neighbor who saw part of the abduction process and was suspicious enough to write down a part of Alvarado's license plate number.

Police gave this account: The girl, a student at 10th & Green Elementary School, was walking in the 600 block of Mulberry Street on Tuesday about 10:30 a.m., later than usual due to a two-hour snow delay. The man pretended his car was stuck in the snow and then managed to get the girl to enter the back of the car. He drove her to his house and took her inside, where he assaulted her. He then dropped her off in the area of 10th and Robeson streets. She was able to find her way home.
