Bangor Area High School band director charged with institutional sexual assault of student

A 38-year-old South Whitehall Township man who was the band director at Bangor Area High School is charged with institutional sexual assault of a student, Pennsylvania State Police report. The girl was 16 when the conduct in and out of school started in October 2019, police said. She is now 17, police said. Eric Michael Hahn is charged with having sexual intercourse with a student and corruption of a minor, police said. Under the institutional sexual assault statute, consent is not possible in the student-teacher dynamic, Northampton County District Attorney Terry Houck explained.
