Eppie Sprung-Dawson, 26, who is married to the son of a former solicitor general of Scotland, has been reported to prosecutors after police apparently surprised her with the unnamed boy. Another pupil called officers after seeing them pull in, it is claimed. Both Mrs Sprung-Dawson and the boy have taken time off school since the alleged incident on Dec 22, after classes broke up for Christmas. ​

Yesterday, Dumfries Sheriff Court was told that the pair were naked from the waist down when police knocked on Sprung Dawson’s car window. English teacher Sprung Dawson, whose husband Ranald, 32, is also a teacher, admitted breaching a position of trust ... Sheriff George Jamieson deferred sentence but told Sprung Dawson she would be placed on the sex offenders’ register.​

Eppie Sprung-Dawson, 26, and her 17-year-old pupil were discovered when police officers spotted a parked car with steamed-up windows. Officers flashed their lights at the car after seeing the head of a woman move up and down on top of a male. Dumfries Sheriff Court heard that, after they were ignored, the officers knocked on the window of the car. Inside, the officers discovered the teacher and her pupil, Matthew Robinson, both naked from the waist down.​

Dumfries Sheriff Court heard Eppie Sprung Dawson was abused by a man 29 years her senior when she was between 13 and 18 years of age. She had previously admitted having sex with a 17-year-old student. Sentence was deferred so she could undertake psycho-sexual counselling but she was told she would not be jailed.​

A court heard today how a teacher who admitted having sex with a teenage pupil had been abused when she was a teenager. Eppie Sprung Dawson, 27, escaped a custodial sentence at Dumfries Sheriff Court where she was appearing for sentence after pleading guilty to having sex with in the front seat of her car with a 17-year-old pupil last December. But she will have to return to court on July 10 to find out what counselling and help is available through social work services and to give her a chance to attend psycho-sexual counselling. And Sheriff George Jamison said it was likely that she would be made the subject of a community payback order but it had not reached that stage at present.​

A teacher caught having sex with her pupil in a steamed-up car will not be jailed. Police found married Eppie Sprung Dawson, 27, half-naked with the boy, 17, in a lay-by. She admitted breaching a position of trust when she appeared at Dumfries sheriff court. Sheriff George Jamieson told her: “You have been tempted and committed adultery – your marriage is gone, and your career is gone. "You are charged with a breach of trust. I cannot see anything to be gained from a custodial sentence.”​
