Edward James Moss, 26, daycare teacher at Citybank Family Center, operated by Bright Horizons Family Solutions, Sioux Falls, South Dakota, "charges for sexual contact with a child under 16"

Day care teacher arrested on sexual contact charge

The investigation started when staff of Renberg Elementary School in Renner had a talk with students discussing inappropriate touching. After the talk, the victim, 6, told her school counselor about the incident, police spokesman Sam Clemens said. "The victim told the school counselor she had been touched on her private parts by her day care teacher," court documents say. During a Child's Voice interview, the victim was able to confirm with officers where Moss touched her, Clemens said. The victim said Moss "tickled" her and that those touches did not feel good. She also revealed the incident took place at the day care at Bright Horizons Family Solutions, which operates for Citibank employees.

On Friday, detectives contacted Moss, who agreed to come to the Law Enforcement Center to be interviewed. Moss told detectives the victim called him "her boyfriend" when she sits by him on the bus for day care trips, court documents say. Further, Moss told detectives of a time when he was "rubbing" the victim's back and his hands went up under her shirt on bare skin, court documents say. It happened because the victim's shirt was not tucked in, he told officers. "(Moss) stated he stopped at this point, but, the victim asked him to keep rubbing so he then rubbed her back further," court documents say. Based on the interview, Clemens said, officers were awarded a warrant and arrested Moss at his home.
