Paterson student files sexual abuse lawsuit against former School 8 teacher

A girl who once attended School 8 in Paterson has filed a civil lawsuit against the city’s Board of Education and a former teacher who court records say was convicted of criminal sexual contract with a child. The lawsuit claimed the accused educator, Edward Clark, “used his position as a teacher to gain the confidence and trust” of the girl, identified in the complaint by the initials “J.F.” The sexual abuse happened during the 2015-2016 school year, according to the lawsuit, which was filed on Monday.
