    Donald Arocho, 37, is charged with one count of criminal sexual assault and one count of aggravated criminal sexual abuse. According to prosecutors, on or about Aug. 26, 2013, Arocho was escorting the student -- who is intellectually disabled and deaf -- to the bathroom. He's accused of taking the student to the gymnasium, pulling down the student's pants and underwear and sexually assaulted the student.

    Judge Timothy Chambers ordered [Donald] Arocho held on a $300,000 bond during a hearing Friday in Skokie, a statement from prosecutors said. Prosecutors claim Arocho was escorting a student at the Northbrook facility to the bathroom on Aug. 26, 2013, when he took the student into a gymnasium, pulled down the victim’s pants and underwear, and sexually assaulted the student, the statement said. The student is “profoundly intellectually disabled” and deaf, according to prosecutors. The student later told relatives what happened and was taken to a hospital where a rape kit was performed, the statement said.

    Donald Arocho, 37, of the 3400 block of South Leavitt in Chicago, is charged with criminal sexual assault and aggravated criminal sexual abuse, according to a press released issue by Cook County State’s Attorney Anita Alvarez’s office. According to prosecutors, Arocho allegedly pulled down the victim’s pants and underwear and assaulted the student in the school gymnasium sometime around Aug. 26. The student, who was described by authorities as being deaf and “profoundly intellectually disabled,” told family members about what allegedly happened and was taken to a local hospital, where a rape kit examination was performed.

    Arocho had been escorting the student to the bathroom Aug. 26, but took him into the gymnasium, pulled down his pants and underwear and sexually assaulted him, prosecutor’s said in a release. Investigators reported that the victim told family members what happened upon returning from school. He was taken to a hospital where a rape kit was performed. Arocho appeared in bond court March 21 at the Skokie Courthouse, 5600 Old Orchard Road, where Judge Timothy Chambers set his bond at $300,000.

    Father blames schools for disabled daughter’s alleged sexual assault

    A disabled student’s father is suing several municipal and private educational entities, alleging negligence involving allegations of outrageous sexual misconduct.

    Ismael Serna of Wauconda, as next friend of B.S., filed a lawsuit Aug. 5 in Cook County Circuit Court against against The Center on Deafness (COD), Wauconda Community School District 118, the Special Education District of Lake County (SEDOL), and Donald L. Arocho, alleging reckless conduct and abuse of authority in the 2013 incident.

    Teacher's Aide Charged In Sexual Assault Of Student
    A Chicago man who works as an aide at a north suburban school for special needs students appeared in bond court today charged in the sexual assault of a student at the school, according to the Office of Cook County State’s Attorney Anita Alvarez.

    Donald Arocho, 37, of the 3400 block of South Leavitt, has been charged with one count each Criminal Sexual Assault and Aggravated Criminal Sexual Abuse.

    According to prosecutors, on or about Aug. 26, 2013, Arocho was escorting the student, who is profoundly intellectually disabled and deaf, to the bathroom.

    Arocho took the victim into the gymnasium and pulled down the victim’s pants and underwear and sexually assaulted the victim.

    According to investigators, the victim told family members what happened upon returning from school.

    The victim was taken to a local hospital where a rape kit was performed.

    Arocho appeared in bond court today at the Skokie Courthouse before Judge Timothy Chambers who set bond at $300,000.

    Arocho’s next court date is March 31, 2014, 1:30 p.m., in Room 105 at the Skokie Courthouse.

    The public is reminded that criminal charging documents contain allegations that are not evidence of guilt.

    The defendant is presumed innocent and is entitled to a fair trial at which the state has the burden of proving guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
