The Department of Children and Families is investigating a teacher and coach at Estero High School. Domenic Frank, a French and Spanish teacher who also coached varsity boy's soccer, was fired this week after being accused of having a sexual relationship with a student. An incident report shows a major crimes detective from the Lee County Sheriff's Office responded to Estero High School Friday. Deputies say 24-year-old Frank and had sexual relations with a 17-year-old girl.

On Wednesday night, the parents of the teen tell us it was a consensual relationship. But they don't know how long it had been going on for. The parents of the teen say they found out about the relationship on Friday; when an investigator for the Department of Children and Family showed up at their home. They say the teen is struggling mentally with the situation. We spoke to the teen on Thursday. Distressed and heartbroken, the sophomore claimed she and Frank were in love.

When asked how long the two had been involved, she responded "long enough." Though, it was uncovered that the sophomore was 16 when the investigation began. The teen is not cooperating in the investigation, and has been tight-lipped since it all began on Friday. However, in the last 24 hours, she posted the following on her Facebook page:

"Don't worry about me or what I do. And don't worry about him. That's none of your business and whatever happened - it happened for a reason and a very good reason." ​

ABC 7: Estero student accused of having sex with teacher talks to ABC7 (Feb 13 2014)

A 17-year-old Estero High School girl talked to ABC7 about her relationship with a former teacher, 24-year-old Domenic Frank. Other students say the two had a sexual relationship ... The girl tells ABC7 she loves him and he loves her. She would not confirm if she had sex with the former French and Spanish teacher. On Facebook she posted: "Wat Ever Happened It Happened For A Reason & A Very Good Reason."​

 

Naples Daily News: Estero High School soccer coach fired, sheriff's office investigating (Feb 13 2014)

According to the sheriff’s office, a school resource officer was alerted to the situation about 1:40 p.m. Friday by Estero High School Principal George Clover. Because the case remains under investigation, the department could not release further details, except to say Clover told the officer about a report of “sexual relations.” Sgt. David Velez said the student involved is a minor.​

Lee County School District officials said the incident reportedly occurred while foreign language teacher Dominick Frank was within his probationary status, meaning he had worked for the district less than one year. On Monday, Frank, who also served as the boys soccer coach, was released from his contract with the district, according to Amity Chandler, director of communications for the district.​

Wednesday the school district released a letter it got from another student who wrote about the girl at the center of this. It said in part; "....the spanish teacher, Mr. Frank, called her really late at night and asked her if she was still awake. She said 'yes', and he told her that he'd pick her up." It said he did and that, "....when she got to his house she was laying on his bed and he took all of his clothes off, he put 'romantic' music on and layed down next to her. She says they did some oral stuff and then they had sex. She spent the rest of the night at his house and he brought her home at 6:00 a.m. before her parents woke up." The letter goes on to say, "...she was going to his house again this Saturday, when her parents went to sleep".​

But was he qualified? Frank has a Bachelors degree in Spanish from Coastal Carolina University and even took some French courses. He passed the states exam to certify him to teach Spanish. However, he was supposed to take and pass the one for French back in August but he failed it. Frank was also supposed to apply for a certification in Florida by August of last year and didn't apply.​

 

ABC 7: Former Estero teacher charged with sexual assault (Mar 19 2014)

25-year-old Domenic Frank turned himself in to Lee County deputies Tuesday night. Frank was charged with sexual assault. ABC7 spoke to the student's father who says he's glad justice is being served. His daughter told investigators that she initiated the relationship with Frank. She also says Frank told her not to say anything, because he would get in trouble. ​

Domenic Frank, 25, was booked into the Lee County jail around 12:30 a.m. Wednesday, according to online reports. He faces a sexual assault charge on a victim either 16 or 17. Frank, who also served as an Estero soccer coach, was released from his teaching contract in early February while deputies investigated the sexual assault.​

Former Estero High School teacher Dominic Frank has turned himself into the Lee County Jail. A warrant was issued for his arrest a week ago. Frank was fired from Estero High School last month for having sexual relations with a 17 year-old student.​

She told detectives, "We had been talking on social media and in school for a while." In the warrant, the student says she was mad at her parents one day last month and called Frank. He picked her up and brought her to his San Carlos Park home. She admitted to having sex with the 25-year-old teacher. Later, she told detectives she initiated it all because she thought Frank would get in trouble. "I pressured him into talking to me. I friend requested him on Facebook. I asked him to bring me to his house," the student said to detectives.​

Domenic Frank, a former Estero High School teacher accused of having sex with a student, turned himself into deputies Tuesday night. A warrant had been issued for Frank, 25, a week ago and deputies were actively looking for him, according to Lt. Larry King of the Lee County Sheriff’s Office. Frank, whose arrest information lists Myrtle Beach, South Carolina as last known address, is being charged with sexual assault on a victim 16 or 17 years old.​
