Federal prosecutors have charged a teacher at Venable Elementary School with possession of child pornography. The U.S. Attorney’s Office says 43-year-old Corey Robert Schock was arrested Monday (Feb. 10). A federal search warrant was executed at Schock’s residence, and he was charged with two counts of having child pornography. He’s also accused of one count of use of a communications system to solicit child pornography ... They say Schock was identified as a suspect after evidence was found February 5th by agents in Northern Virginia.​

According to a report by Newsplex, during Schock’s initial appearance in Charlottesville Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court on February 11, prosecutors said Shock’s engagement with child pornography was part of an ongoing pattern rather than an isolated incident. His arrest resulted from a Northern Virginia-based investigation.​

The section of code under which Schock is charged federally is known as the Mann Act, an early 20th century law written to help combat interstate prostitution and human trafficking. Daily Progress: Charlottesville drops child porn charges; teacher transferred to federal custody (Mar 12 2014)

Federal agents on Wednesday escorted Corey Schock out of Charlottesville Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court after city prosecutors dropped child pornography charges against the Venable Elementary School teacher. Federal prosecutors are taking up the case against Schock, 43, who is accused of exchanging sexually explicit cell phone messages with a Woodbridge teenager ... Charlottesville prosecutors filed a motion to drop the state charges because they “would be duplicative based on the same behavior as the pending federal prosecution.” According to a 25-page federal affidavit, Schock engaged in sexually explicit exchanges with a 15-year-old girl for roughly a month ending late last year. Court records state that some exchanges took place while he was in class, and he sent photos of himself taken from a school bathroom and his family’s home.​
