Bennett is a teacher at Taylor County High School. The Perry Police Department began its investigation yesterday after law enforcement officials received an anonymous tip. The investigation shows Bennett had an inappropriate relationship with a male student. An arrest warrant was obtained and Bennett turned herself in. She was booked into the Taylor County Jail on a $30,000 bond. The investigation will be prosecuted by the Office of the State Attorney, 3rd Judicial Circuit. Tags:

Taylor Co. high school teacher's case of sexual battery A Florida Statute states it is unlawful for sexual activity with a minor for a person over the age of 24. Bennett was 23 years old at the time of the incident and the students were all 16 or older. Bennett was arrested for Sexual Battery by a Person in Custodial Authority but the investigation found no evidence that any sexual activity occurred while Bennett had custodial authority. Teachers only have custodial authority during school hours, on school property, or during extracurricular activities. None of the sexual activity occurred within those times or places. Bennett is now being charged with Contributing to the Delinquency of a Child due to evidence that she gave two students alcohol. Teacher will not be charged for having sex with 3 students The State Attorney’s Office announced Friday it would not be pursuing sexual battery charges against former Taylor County High School teacher Christine Bennett, who admitted to having a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old student. Evidence in the case later showed her involvement with three male students. In Friday’s press release, officials citied Florida Statute 794.05, which states it is unlawful for a person 24 years of age or older to have sexual activity with a minor 16 or 17 years of age. UPDATE: GUILTY with jail time Former Taylor County High School teacher Christine Bennett, who admitted to having relationships with a student, was sentenced to two years in the county jail and one year of probation Tuesday morning, Jan. 20.
