The Times and Democrat said:

Candice Carr, a Nelson C. Nix Educational Center teacher, has been charged with two counts of lewd act on a minor under 16. At a bond hearing Thursday, Orangeburg County Magistrate Richard Murray read warrants against Carr alleging she "did attempt to arouse sexual desire ... fondling the genitals of the juvenile victims." ... According to the incident report filed by the school district, a witness told investigators Carr talked about her "special life" with the class. Some of that alleged talk involved obscene language describing her sexual activities with a man and at other times, she allegedly levied insults at the male students in the class. One of the two 15-year-olds told authorities his teacher one day told him "how much she wanted to do it with him before he would leave the classroom," according to the report. The student claimed the teacher rubbed her buttocks on him and "stuck her hand down his pants" to touch him, the report continues. Court documents indicate another student made similar allegations.

An Orangeburg School District Five science teacher was free on bond Friday night. She was accused of fondling two students under the age of 16 at school last year ... The boys told investigators that between October and December, the 26-year-old science teacher made sexual advances toward them and put her hands inside one of the boy's pants. According to Carr's attorney, The allegations came after one of the boys made a threat. "That if you turn me into the principal's office, you will regret it," said Grant, "Well, here we are."

Ravenell said an extensive investigation was conducted, which led to the arrest of 26-year-old Candice Carr. Investigators with the sheriff's office believe Carr willfully and with the intent to arouse or gratify sexual desires, fondled the genitals of the victims.
