Teacher charged over illicit messages The investigation began Oct. 2 when the department learned of the allegations against Miller ... Information about his current employment status was not available, but his photo and email address were still listed on the Lakeland Middle School website Tuesday afternoon. Police found that Miller used social media to invite some of the volleyball players to drink alcohol with him, the sheriff’s department said. Miller was also accused of sending a sexually explicit message to at least one of those same students, police said. As the investigation continued, police discovered allegations that Miller had sent a sexually explicit message to another student this year, according to the sheriff’s department. Teacher faces harassment charges A Lakeland Middle School teacher and high school volleyball coach was arrested Friday and charged with five criminal counts after he allegedly sent sexually explicit messages to several Lakeland student-athletes.
