Former teacher convicted of sexting teen arrested for working near daycare A former Leeds Middle School teacher and registered sex offender was arrested this week for working within 2,000 feet of a daycare. Ashley Hurst Casiday, 33, of Birmingham was convicted in St. Clair County of transmitting obscene material to a child, according to the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office. Casiday was accused of sexting a 14-year-old male student in 2014. She taught 8th grade English at Leeds Middle School for a year and a half and resigned amid the allegations. GUILTY May 5, 2016 A former teacher who spent six months in Julia Tutwiler Prison for sexting a junior high student is back behind bars after authorities say she violated Alabama's sex offender laws. Ashley Hurst Casiday, 33, was taken into custody by the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office on Wednesday, according to sheriff's officials and jail records.
