According to news reports, Snap Chat is a mobile phone application commonly used by teens to send inappropriate pictures because once the recipient opens the images they're automatically erased. The affidavit goes further pointing to a meeting between Gray and MGM Principal Wade Whitney and counselor Rachel Graham alleging Gray admitted deleting. "Alicia Gray [t]old Whitney and Graham that she had since deleted both her and <the teen's> messages and that she was able to delete <the teen's> messages because she had his password and login information. The statements were strong enough for investigators, A Mobile County District Court Judge on February 20 granted warrant to search Gray's home. The seized several flash drives, 2 digital cameras and a cell phone ... [six days after the search] Mobile County Circuit Court Judge Ben Brooks granted a prosecution request to photograph Gray from the waste down to "corroborate the report of <the teen> and aid in this investigation."

Alicia Gray, 28, accepted a plea deal by prosecutors in Circuit Court Judge Michael Youngpeter's courtroom and was convicted of engaging in a sexual act or deviant sexual intercourse with a student under 19 years old. Youngpeter sentenced Gray to a five-year split sentence, with six months served and five years probation. As a condition of the probation, Gray will no longer be allowed to be employed with minors, and was required to surrender her teaching certificate to the Alabama Department of Education at once.
