    Teachers join activists as hundreds in Minneapolis protest Castile shooting

    Hundreds of teachers joined community activists in a march and rally Tuesday afternoon in Minneapolis to protest the death of Philando Castile, who was fatally shot July 6 by a St. Anthony police officer during a traffic stop. Union members from the Minneapolis and St. Paul Federation of Teachers, as well as other union educators from around the country, gathered at the Convention Center in downtown Minneapolis, then marched to U.S. Bank headquarters at 800 Nicollet Mall, where they planted themselves on 8th Street in protest of bank policies they say hurt education and minority Americans.     21 Protesters Arrested in Downtown Minneapolis

    Minneapolis police officers arrested 21 people during a rush hour protest in downtown Tuesday. The demonstrators were arrested at 8th Street and Nicollet after police say they were repeatedly ordered to leave. Some of the protesters included teachers and community activists calling for safety beyond policing of communities. Protesters also marched for St. Paul Public Schools employee Philando Castile.

    21 arrests at Minneapolis march over Castile shooting

    Minneapolis police arrested 21 demonstrators, many of them teachers, as they blocked downtown streets during the Tuesday evening rush hour.     Police confirmed that 21 people were arrested after a protest in Minneapolis Tuesday. The Star Tribune reported that hundreds of teachers joined community activists in a march to protest the fatal police shooting of Philando Castile. The march included members of the Minneapolis and St. Paul Federation of Teachers and other union educators from across the country.
