    A Durban teacher who has been arrested for making porn movies with boys was convicted in 2003 for incidents of indecent assault that happened more than 20 years ago, while he was teaching at another school in greater Durban, says a report in The Mercury.

    Teacher held for porn has previous conviction

    Documentation seen by The Mercury showed that the teacher had been arrested in 2002 for indecent assault. He was convicted in November 2003 and sentenced to five years, suspended for three years, and to 18 months’ correctional supervision. At the time he was teaching at a school just outside Durban. Soon afterwards he moved to a school in Pietermaritzburg. After his conviction, he moved to another school in Durban. ​

    ‘Porn’ teacher could face more charges

    More charges could be brought against a Durban drama teacher charged with child pornography ... The accused, who is employed in a drama management position at a Durban high school, and has also taught at numerous other high schools in KwaZulu-Natal, was arrested last week after police found pornographic pictures and videos of teenage boys on his laptop. The teacher was also seen in some of the videos.


    At his first court appearance last Thursday, Harripersadh said the teacher had a previous conviction of indecent assault. This incident dated from more than 20 years ago, although he was only charged and convicted in 2002/2003.     ​

    Durban teacher held for child porn

    21 Aug 2014

    A prominent Durban drama teacher who has taught at a string of top KwaZulu-Natal high schools – and directed or performed in numerous drama productions – has been arrested for sexual abuse and possession of child pornography. The 48-year-old man, who has taught at private and top state schools in Durban and Pietermaritzburg, is alleged to have recruited young boys to make pornographic movies. He was arrested on Tuesday and will appear in court on Thursday. Police spokesman Jay Naicker said the alleged crimes were committed from June to this month.    ​
