    Sullivan School teacher's assault trial to begin in Lowell

    Lowell police allege that during a Jan. 27 incident at the Lowell school, Fraser, who is also the boys basketball coach, allegedly berated a student and threw the Rubik's Cube at him, blaming the teen for the loss of a basketball game. Lowell police responded to the school after being notified that a staff member had "gone after" one of the students. The student, whose name has been concealed in court documents, told police he was sent to the school's gym to retrieve another student.     Teacher's aide charged with throwing Rubik's Cube on trial

    Matthew Fraser's trial on a charge of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon is scheduled for Wednesday in Lowell District Court. Prosecutors allege the paraprofessional at Lowell's Sullivan Middle School berated a student and threw the Rubik's Cube at him on Jan. 27 because he blamed the teen for losing a basketball game. The student was not hurt. The Rubik's Cube grazed the shoulder of another teacher who did not press charges.
