    Davis school bus driver carrying 75 arrested for investigation of DUI

    ... other motorists on southbound I-15 started calling 911 just before 8 a.m. near 2100 South because of her poor driving, said Utah Highway Patrol trooper Jason Sills. Even teachers on the bus called 911 to let troopers know where they were.


    "The vehicle kept drifting back and forth, almost hit a couple of cars, seemed very erratic," said Sills, who was the trooper who pulled Martinez over and arrested her. The teachers reported that the driving was "very erratic, almost hitting cars, couldn't stay in her lane."

    School Bus Driver Accused of DUI During Field Trip

    A Utah school bus driver was arrested Monday on suspicion of DUI after swerving lanes and nearly hitting a car on a busy stretch of highway while taking 67 elementary-school students on a field trip. Authorities suspect Lycia Martinez, 39, had taken prescription anti-anxiety/muscle-relaxer pills, which were found in her purse, Utah Highway Patrol Sgt. Blaine Robbins said. A motorist and a parent on the bus made 911 calls about the erratic driving, Robbins said. They said several cars were honking their horns as Martinez failed to stay in the carpool lane.

    School bus weaves in and out of I-15 traffic; driver busted for DUI

    Driver Lycia Martinez, 39, was arrested after allegedly failing field sobriety tests. Dougherty said pain medications, not alcohol, were believed at the root of the driver’s alleged intoxication. Four bottles of pills, for which Martinez had prescriptions, were found in her possession.

    911 call released in school bus driver's DUI arrest

    The Utah Highway Patrol released frantic 911 calls in the case of the school bus driver who police say was driving erratically on a highway Monday morning in Draper. Parents on the bus and other motorists called 911 to report that bus driver, Lycia Martinez, 39, of Clinton, couldn’t stay in her lane and nearly hit other vehicles. According to authorities, the bus was carrying 77 students, parents, and teachers on a school field trip.
