Ex-teacher accused of sex with student

A former teacher at a suburban Detroit high school was charged Wednesday with having multiple sex acts with a 15-year-old student in her Spanish-language classroom, police said. Kathryn Ronk, 29, of Birmingham turned herself in to Madison Heights, Mich., police and was charged with five counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct, according to police. Each charge is punishable by as much as a life sentence in prison.

Detectives began investigating after the parents of a male student at Bishop Foley High School in Madison Heights, along with the school president, the Rev. Gerry LeBoeuf, filed a complaint on May 16, Madison Heights Deputy Chief Corey Haines said Wednesday. Ronk was dismissed from her job shortly afterward, Haines said. She had taught at the school since August, he said.

The incidents at the school allegedly occurred from early January to April 30 in Ronk's classroom — some after the school day, some during breaks in Ronk's teaching schedule, Haines said.​

The Macomb County Prosecutor's officer announced Monday that Kathryn RonMacomb k has been charged with three counts of first Degree Sexual Conduct, one count of Possession of Child Sexually Abusive Material and one count of furnishing alcohol to a minor.

Former Bishop Foley High teacher arraigned on charges of sex assaults on student

A former teacher at Bishop Foley High School was arraigned today in two courts in Macomb County on charges that she had sex with a 15-year-old student in the teacher’s parked vehicle on a Sterling Heights street and in the teen’s Macomb Township home. Kathryn Ronk of Birmingham was given $100,000 personal bonds during arraignments in district courts in Sterling Heights and Shelby Township. Not-guilty pleas were entered for Ronk, who is charged with first-degree criminal sexual conduct, a life felony, in the Sterling Heights court and two counts of the same charge in addition to the charges of child sexually abusive activity and selling or furnishing alcohol to a minor in the district court in Shelby Township.
