Kaneski, who is an English teacher at Cross Bayou Elementary, admitted to downloading the child porn onto his computer for personal use. All of the images and videos found depicted young girls engaged in sex acts with adult men.

Kaneski's] arrest is the result of a two month undercover internet investigation on individuals sharing and possessing child pornography. When deputies issued a search warrant at his home, Kaneski's wife, 8-year-old daughter and 9-year-old son were home. Deputies interviewed Kaneski who admitted to downloading the child pornography found on his computer. According to the report, the computer had videos of young girls, ages 8 to 12, having sex with older men and each other, as well as hundreds of images of child pornography. Deputies said when asked how long he had been downloading, watching, and viewing the content, Kaneski couldn't remember. Pinellas County Sheriff Bob Gualtieri said Kaneski was not only viewing the porn, but downloading it and sharing it, as well. "He wasn't just downloading it and viewing it himself. He had his own library. And he was also distributing it out to others and sharing it," said Gualtieri.Kaneski is also under investigation in a sexual assault case involving a young girl, but officials won't say if she is a student at the school. He also faced similar charges back in 2005 when he was a teacher at Curlew Creek Elementary, but the charges were eventually dropped when the girl recanted her allegations.

He's charged with possession of child porn after investigators say they found at least seven videos and hundreds of images depicting the sexual penetration of children between the ages of 8 and 12 years old. Investigators say 42-year-old John Kaneski of Dunedin is an ESOL (English Speakers of Foreign Languages) teacher at the school. Many of his students are around the same age as those found on his computer's hard drive ... On top of the downloading and dissemination of images, the sheriff says detectives are also investigating new allegations that Kaneski may have sexually abused at least one child. The sheriff would not say if the child was a student at the school. This is not the teacher's first time under investigation on sex abuse charges. In 2005, the sheriff says an 8-year-old student from Curlew Creek Elementary School in Palm Harbor accused Kaneski of sexually abusing her. Investigators say in that case the girl eventually changed her story, and as a result the case was closed.

ABC Action News: More personnel files to be released for teacher arrested on child pornography charges (Jan 9 2013) Later today, the second half John Kaneski’s personnel file is set to be released, and it’s said to have more insight on the Pinellas former teacher, accused of having and sharing child pornography. There are 195 pages of his work history, containing complaints against the Kaneski, who started working with the Pinellas School District in 1994. In the first half of the files, released Tuesday, there were allegations of allegations from a school principal of inappropriate pictures on his classroom bulletin board. In another instance, a parent asked that her child get transferred to a new school after finding what she called inappropriate emails between her child and Kaneski.But the biggest complaint in Kaneski's work file is from the sheriff's office back in 2005. A student claimed he sexually assaulted her at school, but shortly later told investigators she made the whole thing up because she didn't like him and wanted to get him in trouble. Investigators are now giving that case another look.
