Ex-deputy, probation officer faces 3 child molestation charges in North Georgia

A former North Georgia deputy and probation officer was arrested Tuesday on three child molestation charges in Pickens County, authorities said. Gaylon Earl Mathews, 57, of Jasper, was booked into the county’s jail on two counts of aggravated child molestation and one count of child molestation, according to jail records. The GBI obtained the warrants for Mathews’ arrest, which accuse him of molesting a child younger than 16 years old.
