    Teacher held for assaulting school kid granted bail

    According to the complaint lodged by Sujeet Kakkad, father of the student, around 1.30 pm on September 29, the accused allegedly hit his son after the 17-year-old along with others laughed when some students sitting on the back bench made some "funny noise".

    Kakkad's son was sitting on the first bench at the time of the incident. According to the complaint, the student was hit so hard that he received an internal wound in his ear.

    Kakkad, who is an assistant commissioner (sales tax), told TOI, "My son has sustained 30% perforation in the left ear, which is very serious. We send children to schools for making them good individuals and not for getting them punished in a manner causing them irreparable damage."
