7:42 AM EST Jan 25, 2016 BULLITT COUNTY, Ky. —A new trial date could be set Monday for a former Bullitt Central High School teacher charged with multiple sex crimes. Crystal Chappell faces six counts of rape. Shepherdsville police say she admitted to having sex with an underage boy on six occasions last summer. The original case against Chappell was dismissed in July because the victim was unavailable to appear in court and some subpoenas had not been sent out, but a grand jury later indicted Chappell a second time. http://www.wlky.com/news/new-trial-...y-for-former-teacher-accused-of-rape/37621644
GUILTY... But no punishment, WTF?!?!? Feb 01, 2016 BULLITT COUNTY, Ky. (WDRB) -- A new agreement could mean no jail time for a former Bullitt Central High School teacher charged with raping a student, but it also ensures she never teaches again. Crystal Chappell was a third year math teacher at the school in 2014 when she was charged with six counts of rape. The charges stemmed from alleged incidents between June and August 2014 involving a 17-year-old student. A new resolution filed in Bullitt County Circuit Court suspends prosecution of the case for one year. According to that agreement, if Chappell does not commit a crime with the exception of traffic violations between now and Jan. 25, 2017, the rape charges will be dropped. “It will be dismissed with prejudice, which means it can’t ever come back. They can’t ever institute another indictment against her on those charges,” said Karen Faulkner, Chappell’s attorney. “We believed in Ms. Chappell’s innocence and that ultimately we would’ve prevailed at trial and this is a great resolution.” The resolution also says “Chappell must surrender her teaching certificate” and “not seek reinstatement”, which means she could not teach anywhere in the country. http://www.wdrb.com/story/31113530/...against-former-bullitt-co-high-school-teacher
