    Red flag on teacher missed by district

    The personnel file of a male teacher accused of touching and sexually harassing a city high school student in 2013 indicates a history of such behavior, one the district claims to have been ignorant of until recent attention to the teacher’s past. The teacher’s personnel records - obtained by The Advocate through a Freedom of Information Act -contains an April 2008 letter placing him on paid leave pending an “investigation of alleged sexual harassment” at the Academy of Information Technology and Engineering. “You will be notified by mail when a date has been set for the discipline meeting,” wrote Jan ...
