A married South Shore teacher was so “obsessed” with a teen boy she had sex with him on his kitchen floor, in the shower and in the living room and it all began when he was 13 years old, prosecutors said today. The alleged victim, now 16, said they had sex a total of 300 times - “possibly every other day,” according to a police report obtained by the Herald. Christine A. McCallum, 29, of Rockland faced three charges of statutory rape in Brockton District Court earlier today. Prosecutors say she had sex with the alleged victim when he was 13, 14 and 15.

McCallum, an Abington, Massachusetts elementary school teacher, pleaded not guilty today to rape charges after allegedly having sex with a boy numerous times, beginning when he was 13. ... Officials say the father of the boy, now 16, went to authorities recently after he found some correspondence between his son and McCallum. McCallum says she had become like a surrogate mother to the boy, who was being raised by a single father. McCallum has been ordered to wear a GPS tracking device, surrender her passport and to stay away from the boy, his family and all children under 16.

McCallum, who lives at 32 Arlington St., Rockland, was arrested at her home Thursday, Jan. 8 and has been charged with seven counts of rape of a child dating back three years to when the boy was 13-years-old. Four of the rape charges concern alleged incidents that took place in Rockland and the other three allegedly took place in Abington. ... McCallum worked in the Abington Public Schools for four years. For three years she was a tutor and since last year she taught fifth grade at Woodsdale Elementary.

That relationship allegedly progressed to snuggling and kissing after McCallum plied the boy with alcohol. Then on Feb. 7, 2006, she allegedly had sex with the teen for the first time, said Assistant Plymouth District Attorney Michael Scott. McCallum, 29, had sex with the student on the boy's kitchen floor, in the shower and in the living room -- all beginning when he was 13-years old, the Boston Herald reported. The alleged victim is now 16. He said he and the teacher had sex "possibly every other day," a police report said. McCallum faces three charges of statutory rape. She was being held on $10,000 bond. "The defendant is obsessed with this young child," Assistant District Attorney Michael Scott was quoted by the newspaper as saying. McCallum has been placed on administrative leave from her job as a fifth-grade teacher in Abington, Mass.

[Christine] McCallum, who never had the alleged victim in her class, learned that the boy’s father was working two jobs and raising the brothers alone, police said. Soon, she began driving them home from tutoring sessions and became a family friend, police said. McCallum looked after the boys for free and, according to the father, invited them to her home for dinner, checked their homework, and tucked them in while he was at work. It was on Feb. 7, 2006, that the alleged affair began. While McCallum’s husband and the boy’s younger brother slept upstairs the two had sex on a couch in her Rockland home, police said. “He said he remembered the day because it was the first time he ever had sex,” a Rockland police report states. What ensued, authorities said, was a secretive and obsessive relationship. McCallum allegedly provided the teen a cell phone, took him to concerts, and wrote him letters. At the same time, prosecutors said, the family accepted McCallum’s invitation to move into a rental property she and her husband owned. The teen told police that until he was 15 years old, they had unprotected sex “about every other day” at McCallum’s Rockland home. The teen told police McCallum provided him vodka, rum and Jell-O shots on about 150 occasions. The boy told police that the affair ended in November 2007 when McCallum grew jealous of the teen’s relationship with girls his age and gave him an ultimatum. The last time he saw her was more than a month ago, when McCallum and her husband came to fix the heat in their home, but the two barely spoke. Police learned of the alleged affair Tuesday when the teen’s father walked into Rockland police station. The mother of one of his son’s friends had called with information about the relationship.

Last week, Abington elementary school teacher Christine McCallum, 29, was charged with seven counts of statutory rape, stemming from a nearly two-year relationship she had with a young boy, beginning when he was 13. Adults have power over adolescents in the form of money, jobs and age, said Tom Faxon, clinical social worker at Bayview Quincy at South Shore Mental Health. Where differences lie, Faxon said, is in how society views each relationship. Girls are seen more as victims, Faxon said, while boys are seen as “lucky,” which assumes the boy had power in the relationship. “Often boys, they don’t have that much control,” Faxon said. “This is an adult. An adult with power, and then someone as a teacher has a lot of power.”

She first seduced the older boy with marijuana and alcohol and had sex with him in early 2006. For some undisclosed reason, the children's parents permitted the underage boys to live with McCallum and her husband part-time during the period that she was tutoring them. McCallum did plead guilty to 12 counts of child rape, one count of drugging a person for sex and one count of providing a minor with alcohol. McCallum taught at Abington elementary school, where she was tutoring the boy along with his 11-year-old brother since 2005. Not long after a period of 20 months, the two boys moved in with McCallum and her husband on a part-time basis. In February of 2006, McCallum had sex with the boy for the first time. She used marijuana and alcohol to persuade the boy to have sex with her. The relationship between the two stopped close to two years after it began when the boy, at the age of 15, started showing interest in a girl of his own age. The father of the boy, in a statement, said that McCallum is “a true predator and a monster” who destroyed his life.
