Kyrene teacher faces firing in harassment

The Kyrene Elementary School District governing board has taken the first step toward firing a Centennial Middle School eighth-grade science teacher. First-year teacher Brandon Brothers is accused of violating state and district policies against sexual harassment, unprofessional conduct, disrespectful conduct with students and state guidelines for teaching sex education. Mark Knight, the school district's assistant superintendent for human resources, said Brothers has been on paid leave since May 16, when a student complained about Brothers' behavior during a class.

There is no indication in Maricopa County court records that any criminal charges have been filed against Brothers.
