    After a joint investigation between the Wilmington Police Department, the FBI and US Marshals, former Roland-Grise Middle School math and science teacher April Schaefer was arrested on charges of indecent liberties with a child, felony indecent liberties with a student, contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile and disseminating obscene material to a minor. “The charges in this case are severe, and we certainly wanted to level charges that are consistent with our evidence that would certainly remove this person from the ability to be employed at a school to predate on children for the rest of our life,” WPD Sgt. Thomas Tilman said.

    WECT: Former middle school teacher charged for indecent liberties with a child (Nov 30 2012)

    Detectives with the Wilmington Police Department Juvenile Justice Team arrested a former middle school teacher who is accused of having indecent liberties with a child ... Schaefer worked at Roland Grise Middle School from 2010-2011, according to the New Hanover County School system. Authorities say that's when she allegedly met the 13-year-old victim.

    A former Wilmington middle school teacher was jailed Friday morning accused of having a relationship with a 13-year-old girl over the course of two years. The girl is now 15, according to police ... [Wilmington Police Cpl. Kevin] Smith said the charges stem in part from photographs investigators viewed of Schaefer and the girl engaged in acts which “led to an indecent liberties charge.”
